Dimension

Overview

A Dimension node represents a dimension output in the AnalyticsCreator dataflow diagram. Use it to see where descriptive business data is prepared, how it connects to upstream processing, and where it supports downstream analytical objects.

Function

The node gives the dimension a visible position in the diagram. It shows the object label, uses the dimension color style, and connects to related objects through directional arrows.

From the node, you can open the dimension, locate it in the navigation tree, focus the diagram on the selected item, add it to an existing diagram filter, review references, preview data, manage object groups, and adjust the node colors. Package and table markers can appear beside the node when the dimension is maintained through package processing or has an associated table representation.

The diagram is useful when checking the business flow around a dimension: which upstream objects feed it, which packages maintain it, and which facts, exports, models, or related objects depend on it.

Access

Open the dataflow diagram from the DWH area, then find the dimension in the diagram or use diagram filtering from a related navigation-tree object. Model dimensions can also be reached from the Models branch when you need to add, edit, or create a transformation for a modeled dimension.

How to access

Use DWH -> Show diagram. For model definitions, use Models -> [model] -> Dimensions.

Toolbar

Use DWH -> Home to open the diagram, or ETL -> Transformations to list related dimension transformations.

Diagram

Use Dataflow diagram -> Dimension node.
