Set Diagram Filter

The Set Diagram Filter feature in AnalyticsCreator allows you to control which metadata objects are displayed in the diagram view. By applying filters, you can reduce visual noise and focus on specific layers, schemas, object types, or modeling areas.

This is especially useful when working with large-scale repositories that include dozens or hundreds of objects across multiple DWH layers.

Use Cases

  • Only show tables from the Data Mart layer
  • Focus on a specific schema during development
  • Temporarily hide transformations to simplify the layout
  • Debug a package by isolating objects within that execution scope

How to Set a Diagram Filter

  1. Open the Diagram View from the toolbar or navigation tree.
  2. Click the Filter icon or open the Diagram Filter Panel.
  3. Select the object types, schemas, or layers you want to display.
  4. Click Apply to activate the filter. The diagram will automatically refresh.

Note: Filter settings are user-specific and do not affect the repository or other developers.

What You Can Filter

Filter Option Description
Object Type Toggle visibility of tables, transformations, snapshots, etc.
DWH Layer Limit display to staging, core, or data mart layers.
Schema Include/exclude objects from selected schemas.
Package Scope Filter to only show objects used in a selected ETL package.
Object Group Filter diagram to show only objects within selected groups.

Best Practices

  • Use filters during workshops or walkthroughs to explain only relevant objects.
  • Combine with Locate in Diagram for focused troubleshooting.
  • Use group-based filtering when working in multi-domain models (e.g., Sales, Finance).

Setting diagram filters improves performance, clarity, and productivity when working with large or complex models in AnalyticsCreator.
